OUR MISSION STATEMENT We, the Body of Christ: St. Anselm Parish in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, rejoice in our parish's more than 80 years of service to God, our Church, our country, and our community.
As Christ is Priest, Prophet, and King, we celebrate the sacramental life of the Church, proclaim the Word of God, and serve the needs of our parishioners and neighbors always with faith, hope, and charity.
Walking with Christ, we accept the challenge to call all people to worship, to teach all nations His Truth, and to love one another as He has loved us.
WHAT IS ADORATION FOR VOCATIONS? Adoration for Vocations is the Eucharistic devotion whereby members of St. Anselm parish (and visitors) unite in praying hours of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament for an increase in vocations to the Church as well as for our Holy Father, priests, consecrated, seminarians and houses of formation. Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations is a concrete response to Christ's invitation to "pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers to the harvest. (Lk 10:2)". The Blessed Sacrament is exposed every Friday after the 11:00 A.M. Mass until 3:00 P.M. New Adorers are always needed!
PRAY TO THE LORD FOR MORE VOCATIONS The Blessed Sacrament is exposed every Friday after the 11:00 A.M. Mass until Benediction at 3:00 P.M. Adorers needed. See Fr. Gelfant to sign-up.
Miraculous Medal Novena Monday after the 11AM Mass Novena to St. Jude and Reverence of the Relic of St. Jude Wednesday after the 11AM Mass Rosary Prayed daily after the 11AM Mass Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament For an Increase In vocations Fridays after the 11AM Mass until 4PM
SERVICE MEN & WOMEN "REMEMBRANCE BOOK" Please list the names of friends and relatives in the military in our "Remembrance Book". It is covered with yellow fabric to remind us to pray each day for peace and the safe return of these and all our troops. The book is located in the front of Church. Alphabetic dividers separate the pages.
GIVE THE GIFT OF EDUCATION Be an angel! As an angel, you enable a student who is at risk financially to remain in his or her Catholic school. 100% of your contribution is directed to the tuition, with the parents or guardians contributing their part. Your tax deductible contributions can be made in honor or in memory of someone you hold dear, while assisting a child who might not otherwise be able to afford the benefit that a Catholic school education offers. There are deserving children right here at St. Anselm and many other schools in our Diocese who will have to leave school without some financial help. For further information, please contact the Futures in Education Foundation, 310 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215 at 718-965-7340 or www.futuresineducation.org.
HOMEBOUND PARISHIONERS We at St. Anselm are interested in reaching all our homebound parishioners to bring them Holy Communion. Arrangements can be made to have a priest visit them for confession and Holy Communion.. Weekly Communion can then be arranged by one of the Ministers of Holy Communion. If you know of a homebound parishioner, please contact Sr. Regina Corde, at the Rectory with their name and phone number.
MASS OFFERINGS The practice of having Mass offered for our deceased relatives and friends is a very ancient practice in our Church. We can commemorate the anniversary of death or a birthday remembrance. But we can also remember the living - a birthday, a wedding anniversary or a special occasion in the life of our family or that of our friends. When possible, we try to schedule the Mass on the day of such an event, but when not possible, a day near to the event can be scheduled. We have open times in the near future and over the next few months. You can make arrangements by coming to the rectory, or by mail, the latter with the note on the envelope "Mass Intention".
THE POOR BOXES Please remember the poor boxes in church -- the monies collected from these boxes are used for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help the needy.
PARISH REGISTRATION All parishioners should be registered and use their envelopes. If you are not registered and using your envelopes, we cannot issue testimonial letters of Baptism, Confirmation and Matrimony. We cannot give recommendations for positions, schools or character references if we do not know you. Register at the Rectory when you move into the parish and notify us when leaving. |
