Kassenbrock - Born and raised in Brooklyn, I was baptized in St.
Anselm's parish as an infant, before the construction of the present
church. I was educated on the elementary level in P.S. 127, St. Ephrem's
School, and Our Lady of Angels School, and graduated from Xaverian High
School. I received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in education from
Brooklyn College in the early '70s. I taught on both the junior high and
elementary levels in New York City Public Schools for more than
thirty-four years. Retired since 2005, I enjoy attending concerts,
reading literature, travel, and following baseball. I am a season ticket
holder for the perennially second place Brooklyn Cyclones and manage to
enjoy their curly-fries despite the team's predictable mid-August
slumps.

- I am a graduate from our school and have been a St. Anselm parishioner
for more than 30 years. My husband Peter and I met while we were walking
on Shore Road and, of course, were married in St. Anselm. I received
both my B.A. and M.Ed. from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
While in Texas, I taught in both private and public schools. When I
realized how much I missed Brooklyn, I came home and worked in the field
of Early Childhood Education. I currently train Universal
Prekindergarten teachers for the early childhood programs run by St.
Dominic’s Home. |

Ed
Moderacki - A life-long resident of Bay Ridge, father of four and
grandfather of three, I have been actively involved in community, civic
and church affairs for over 65 years. After serving in the United States
Marine Corps during World War II and subsequently earning degrees in
mechanical engineering and science, I worked for many years at Sperry
Rand Corp and received special recognition for my work on the Pacific
Missile Range and Canadian weather ship projects. Since retiring, I have
made the health, safety and financial needs of elderly and retired
persons a special focus of my volunteer efforts. These include serving
as President of the Bay Ridge AARP Chapter 3630, Secretary of the Senior
Advisory Board of the Bay Ridge Center of Older Adults, member of the
Legislative Committee of the Interagency Bay Ridge Council on Aging, and
Co-Chair of the Senior Affairs Committee of the Bay Ridge Community
Council, of which I have been a member for the last ten years. Through
my involvement with these organizations, I am justly proud of such
accomplishments as the purchase of vehicles used to distribute Meals on
Wheels and the passage of laws to assure enhanced medical and
prescription benefits for elderly Bay Ridge residents. As President of
the St. Anselm Holy Name Society, I have participated as Chief Usher at
the 8AM Mass each Sunday and for the past 12 years have chaired the
annual Holy Thursday Blood Drive. For many years I supervised the
activities related to the annual Lenten Mission Soup Supper to benefit
charitable organizations that help the needy. I am now looking forward
to serving my fellow parishioners as a member of the Parish Pastoral
Council.

Lynne Savage - Born and raised in St.
Patrick's parish and a lifelong resident of Bay Ridge, I have had the
good fortune to be a member of St. Anselm's parish for the last 12
years. As a retired educator, I have a special interest in services to
the parish's young people and the creation of more opportunities for
their positive involvement in the spiritual life of the parish. For the
past three years, I've been delighted to volunteer in St. Anselm's Early
Childhood program, assisting the Beginning Scholar and Pre-K teachers in
whatever ways they found most useful. I also have been privileged to
serve as a lector and as a member of several parish committees,
including that for the Annual Bishop's Appeal and the church decorating
committee. Now I'm looking forward to working with the entire parish
community, Monsignor Phillips, and the other members of the Pastoral
Planning Council on this most important process of the development of
the St. Anselm Parish Pastoral Plan. |
